Welcome to EXT SRC

I miss when exploring new music was a physical experience. Rather than relying on an algorythm to tell you what to listen to it was an active search, whether through record stores, talking to friends, listening to the radio and mixes, reading magazines and blogs, or a myriad of other ways that didn’t involve having a playlist generated for you. Music shouldn’t be so disposable. Human curation is valuable. In an effort to get some of that experience back I’ve created this website, documenting my radio show and hopefully allowing others to discover new music.

I started EXT SRC in the music blog era. In 2013 it was a Tumblr blog where I’d share MP3s. That soon become a short series of mixes. Later those mixes became a radio show on WRIR 9 97.3 FM and a zine. I’ve circled back to a blog where I can share my show and document my musical rabbit holes. Episodes is an archive of every EXT SRC broadcast. Artists is a database of artists and bands I’ve played on the show. Genres categorizes it all.
