Piers Kirwan
“Here’s a corrected and polished version with the grammar, capitalization, and flow fixed, while keeping the original meaning and details intact:
UK-born and bred, Piers Kirwan is a DJ/producer who, since the late ’80s, has steadily worked his way into the global house music network. He was one half of Stereo Mutants for eight years, with releases on Defected, Duffnote, Seamless, Bubble Soul, Open Bar, Soulphuric Records, Cayanne UK, One51, and more.
Piers has been DJing for 23 years. His DJ career began at house parties in and around the South West of England during the late ’80s and early ’90s. At the time, he was playing at a club called The Bowgie alongside the then-unsigned Aphex Twin, whom he went to college with. Piers also played massive warehouse parties in Plymouth in 1990–91.
In 1992, Simon Gordon asked Piers to become a resident alongside him at the now-infamous Natural Rhythm nights. These nights were run by Si, and during their nine-year reign the two DJs played alongside such luminaries as Claudio Coccoluto, Alex Neri, Danny Rampling, Smokin Jo, Angel Moraes, X-Press 2, Ricky Montanari, Allister Whitehead, CJ Mackintosh, and many more.
Off the back of this success came a string of national and international dates and gigs. Piers is still producing his other musical love, liquid drum & bass, releasing three tracks on Soul Deep Records in 2011. Along the way, he also found success signing singles to Smokin Beats UK under his PK guise.
After 80+ releases and remixes with Stereo Mutants and extensive touring across Asia and Europe, Piers decided to focus on solo projects in 2012. This resulted in tracks being signed to Grant Nelson’s Freeze Dried, as well as remixes for Just4Funk (Italy), Tall House Records, Tricircle (Germany), Roberto De Carlo (Barcoda), and Dave Mayer.
Piers is also teamed up with Justin Harris (Freaks) under the name Skyrats, with two releases on the infamous Paranoid label and Diamondhouse (Germany).”
