“Your Brother’s Keeper is a London-based contemporary jazz collective assembled by drummer and producer Jake Long from his Maisha project. Their music is rooted in a creative dialogue that weds collective improvisation and electronics in a 21st century jazz that winds in everything from funk grooves, dub, and global folk sounds. Maisha’s discography includes 2018’s There Is a Place, 2020’s Open the Gates EP, and a collaboration with American saxophonist Gary Bartz on Night Dreamer Direct-To-Disc Sessions (also 2020). Long reassembled most of the band in current project Your Brother’s Keeper with saxophonist Chelsea Carmichael joining the veterans: pianist/keyboardist Ali MacSween, trumpeter Axel Kaner-Lidstrom, bassist Twm Dylan, and percussionist Tim Doyle. Your Brother’s Keeper collaborated with Bartz on the 2026 Brownswood studio album, Where Rivers Meet.”
