EXT SRC 49 / Jackson Heights
10.08.2025
For this episode of EXT SRC I’m exploring jazz by South Asian and South Asian diasporic artists. Jazz and South Asian music, particularly classical Indian music, have a long history together. I spent a good part of my high school years absorbing every Mahavishnu Orchestra and John McLaughlin project and enjoying Alice Coltrane’s work. So I was curious what people with actual origins in the region were doing with jazz. With this playlist I attempted to showcase modern artists, some that I already enjoyed along with new favorites.
