The Cover Up / Sharif Farrag

Back in 2007 I started a blog dedicated to album cover artists called The Cover Up. (You can read a zine version of it here) This is a revival of that where I’ll occasionally highlight cover artists that I find interesting. In a time when many artists and designers are being replaced by AI I think it’s important to spotlight the real thing.

For the first highlight I’m looking at ceramicist Sharif Farrag for his artwork on Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE and SURF GANG’s POMPEII // UTILITY. A Reseda, California-native and friend of MIKE, he was commisioned to create a series of pieces for the album. His pieces feature technically impressive, layered and abstracted ceramic forms.
